Duties

Major Duties:
Reviews documents prepared for signature or requiring coordination by the service lines management team for appropriate tone.
Returns inadequate communications to originator
Receives and reviews incoming correspondence; screens for general information and determines priority or deadline dates.
Reviews all outgoing correspondence for grammatical content, accuracy, conformance to correspondence format, established policies, and protocols for routing.
Provides advice and guidance to service line staff on administrative/clerical matters, requirements, and instructions.
Maintains records and files for easy accessibility and retrieval in accordance with the record management system.
Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls.
Maintains calendars and makes appointments in accordance with established practice or special instructions.
Obtains and monitors the use of services, office supplies, or equipment for the administrative offices.
Utilizes office automation equipment to prepare correspondence, documents, and reports.
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
Typing Proficiency: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must meet the following requirement:
Specialized Experience: You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is performing office administration duties such as timekeeping, reception (greeting visitors and answering phones), preparing correspondence, producing reports, and scheduling meetings. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers and books.
