Duties

- Provides leadership, direction, guidance and instruction to assigned Tools and Parts Attendants, WG-6904-06 performing tool room operations and limited parts acquisitions, receiving and storing of assigned stock, tools, tool kits, and/or equipment items. - Supports supply personnel in the performance of inventories of bench stocks. - Performs a complete range of issuing duties on assigned items. - Maintains catalogs and initiates supply actions. - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

  • Will be required to train/guide lower graded (or other wage series) employees.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900, Warehousing and Stock Handling Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT LEADER without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide variety of tools and parts. 2. Dexterity and safety as it relates to the use of tools/equipment and storing various items. 3. Good shop work practices to include setting up and maintaining a neat, well organized, and secure storage area. Technical abilities to suggest substitution of parts/tools, determine causes of overages/shortages, determine need for calibration of tools and when they are damaged beyond repair. identify items by general descriptions from shop personnel and sclup and/or shift storage locations. 4. Ability to receive, store, issue, and inventory parts, tools, and/or equipment and maintain records using automated and/or mechanized systems without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead, train, plan, prioritize, and schedule work sequence for five Tools and Parts Attendants, WG-6904-06. 5. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. from shop equipment and part catalogs. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. 6. Ability to inspect tools, parts. and equipment for visible damage and make determinations as to feasibility of repair. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. frequently lifts and carries weights up to 10 pounds. May occasionally handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. May lift heavier items with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is generally done in areas that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. The attendant may occasionally work in areas that are drafty. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. The attendant is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
