About the Position: This position is located at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, outpatient clinic, active duty population, work hours are between 07:30-16:30, M-F
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service
Duties
Incumbent serves as a clinical psychologist, providing direct patient care as determined by the Chief.
Maintain full responsibility for providing a full range of clinical psychology and specialized clinical health psychological evaluations in an ambulatory care center outpatient psychology clinic.
Form competent psychological assessments of related psychological factors affecting common medical disorders and their management.
Assess capacity to understand, participate, and adhere to designated medical or psychological treatment.
Coordinate care and serves as the clinical psychology specialist to various multi-disciplinary treatment teams or Subspecialty Clinics/Services at supported Military Treatment Facilities.
Serve as the subject matter expert in clinical psychology specialty for complex and medically compromised patients, as required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series
- This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

Basic Requirement for Psychologist:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administering and interpreting psychological tests; evaluating effectiveness of programs; and conducting therapeutic interventions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is Preferred.
