This Position is an HVAC Mechanic in the Facilities and Engineering Service, Perry Point VAMC, VA Maryland Healthcare System. This position is responsible for the operation, cleanliness, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, and heating systems and all other associated equipment. Air conditioning systems and equipment include reheat systems and all other associated equipment.

Duties

Major Duties May Include: Incumbent performs corrective and preventive maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning, and ventilation systems and associated equipment. Uses blueprints, sketches, manufacturer's handbook and technical manuals to plan and layout projects and to write specifications for replacement and installation of new equipment. Maintains and keeps clean and orderly all equipment, tools and areas occupied by equipment that pertains to their work. Responsible for providing quality customer service for all contacts. He/ She provides information and assistance to the best of their ability and offers to provide an appropriate and courteous referral when he/she may not be able to satisfy the customer's immediate need. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
