About the Position: These positions are located within the Europe, Pacific, and America's Regions. Duties

Provides instruction, assessment, and program planning for students with a range of moderate to severe disabilities, including intellectual, physical, communication, learning, and behavior disorders. Serves as an informational resource for teachers, students, parents, district personnel, and community organizations. Documents student progress through the use of formative and summative assessment tools. Provides consultant services to classroom teachers and specialists to facilitate carry-over of academic and behavioral gains into classroom, school, and work activities. Provides diagnostic-prescriptive instruction, remediation activities, and educational intervention strategies in a variety of settings.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. State or Territory Certification/License. Effective January 2009, DoDEA changed its business process for rating professional teacher applications. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements and Information, to include State endorsements (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories), official transcripts reflecting 50%, (12/24 or 15/30 semester hours) of the course work in the content area, AND professional teacher education (9/18 semester hours), must be considered with each position, where applicable. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements. A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40 semester hours (SH) in general education course work distributed over such fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a minimum of 18 SH of professional teacher education course work in such areas as learning process, tests and measurement, educational philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which applying is required. (Note: Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers, School Nurses, School Psychologists, JROTC Instructors, and non-certified Training Instructors are excluded from the minimum academic preparation requirement.) 0423 (Teacher) Moderate to Severe Learning Impaired: A major in special education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in special education is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours directly related to severe and profound disabilities or intellectual disability. 0424 Teacher, Moderately to Severe Learning Impaired (Middle) A major in special education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in special education is required. Course work must include a minimum of 12 semester hours directly related to severe and profound disabilities or intellectual disability. 0425 Teacher. Moderately to Severe Learning Impaired A major in special education or a minimum of 30 semester hours in special education is required.
