About the Position: Serves as the Personal and Confidential Assistant to the principle assigned, concentrating on matters of direct and substantial interest and concern to the SA, USA, or DUSA. Represents the assigned principle with high-level government officials, including members of the White House staff, Congress, and Office of the Secretary of Defense. Located in Arlington, VA.
Duties
Review and initiates all new policy, procedures and practices to unite responsibilities of senior leaders.
Execute a full range of projects, studies and programs, exercising personal and professional judgment.
Represent senior leaders as a recognized expert at high level study groups that involve major strategic communication coordination planning reviews and processes.
Develop and coordinate input into a wide range of plans and other critical processes focused on strategic communication.
Analyze a wide range of primary source materials to ensure senior leaders are briefed accurately, objectively informed, and are prepared for decision-making.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent can be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- This position is designated as a Key Position. Civilians in key positions must be exempted from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligation.
Qualifications
Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments, for current Army employees, may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. Your appointment will be time-limited.
If you are a current federal employee, or a current Army employee when gaining and losing organizations do not agree to Return Rights, you will be converted from your permanent appointment to the non-status, time-limited appointment. You will not have Return Rights to your current activity.

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes planning critical processes focused on strategic communication; performing in-depth reviews of program goals in relation to financial resources; reviewing goals and objectives of program requirements; and developing briefings and/or papers that articulates the organization's vision and direction. This specialized experience is equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
