The Supervisor of Electrical/Electronic Mechanics serves with the responsibility of supervising the Electrical/Mechanical Unit, Maintenance & Operations Section, Engineering Service, Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS).
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include:
The incumbent has overall responsibility for the following systems. All Electrical systems, elevators, generators, electronic controls, televisions, monitoring, and alarm systems.
Responsible for the technical accountability for the efficient and effective operation and management of maintenance and repair programs for electrical systems, elevators, and electronic controls and alarm systems.
Carries out a wide range of personnel management responsibilities such as selection of employees, preparation of position descriptions and performance standards, conducting employee performance reviews, and preparing documentation for incentive awards.
Recommends corrective actions for unexpected failures and emergency Repairs of Electrical Equipment.
Responsibilities include the preparation of documents required to procure proper materials, services, equipment, and tools to accommodate a fully operational section.
Advises the Chief of Maintenance, and Operations Section daily of any problems with major critical equipment, overtime needs, or problems with resource acquisition or allocation.
Administers a continuing education and training program including instruction as to the proper use of safety devices and safe work habits and personal protective equipment.
Part of the program includes maintaining equipment inventory, equipment histories, and repair documents.
Performs pre-purchase technical reviews of utility systems equipment.
Directs the development of preventive maintenance schedules, work, alterations, and modifications for equipment/systems.
On a continuing basis, the training requirements of the supervisor include classes on JCAHO, OSHA, NFPA, and hazard communication.
Manages a parts and hardware inventory used in the repair and maintenance of the facility's electrical/mechanical equipment.
Must be knowledgeable with contract preparation and interpretation of drawings and specifications.
Keeps abreast of new materials, tools, methods, construction techniques, and building codes.
Reads and interprets blueprints, manuals, NFPA Codes, NEC Codes, etc.
Provides direction to properly operate utility systems and tools required to complete the repairs.
Assures safety and housekeeping practices are observed.
Maintains the equipment inventory, equipment histories and repair documents.
Responsible for the investigation and assessment of unexpected utility failures and emergency equipment repairs.
Administers a utility management and preventive maintenance program and prepares internal systematic review reports.
Should be knowledgeable of all electrical systems, elevators, generators, electronics controls, televisions, as well as monitoring and alarm systems and the trouble shooting of all.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The Incumbent must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (occasionally more than 75 pounds) and hold them in awkward positions while they are being installed or removed. The Incumbent must be able to work for prolonged periods while kneeling, crouching, stooping, and/or standing in awkward positions and to climb and work from ladders, man lifts, scaffolding, and roofs. Work involves walking, standing, bending, climbing, and crawling.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside (heat, cold, under, and outside of buildings). Installation, inspections, and repairs are often made under dirty noisy conditions. There is frequent exposure to the danger of electrical shock, strains, cuts, bruises, burns and infections, and asbestos containment areas.
