About the Position: Serves as a Materials Handler (Fork Lift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) position located within the US Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Supply and Services Division, Redstone Arsenal, AL.

Duties

Perform the full range of warehousing duties needed to receive, transfer, and ship various types of material classified as munitions. Directs toxic chemical handlers, munitions handlers, and equipment operators required to perform the day-to-day warehousing operation. Direct warehousing crew in boxing, crating, palletizing, loading, and transporting material to appropriate areas inclusive of test sites, test stands, labs, or demolition areas. Handles and transports material which requires the ability to operate motor vehicles to include trucks up to less than 5 ton capacity and forklifts capable of lifting up to 15,000 pounds as high as 210 inches. Utilize safety policies and regulations to store items to include explosive materials.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Must pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • CDL H license within 6 months of employment.
  • Must sign a form acknowledging that applicant understands it is a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Materials Handler (FLO/MVO) without more than normal supervision. 1)Receive munitions and directing carrier of incoming shipments to proper unloading location; (2)Store explosive items in igloo and/or warehouse according to safety policies and other regulations for storing; (3)Check documents/material and perform counts and checks of items for accuracy upon receipt of shipping instructions; (4) Drive forklifts and trucks of 1 1/2 to less than 5 ton capacity.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material, and equipment that weigh 70 pounds or more. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside and outside. May work inside areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. May work in bad weather in such outside areas as open docks and storage yards. The work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other materials handling equipment.
