This position is located within the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) of the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI. serving as a Transportation Coordinator and acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and admissions scheduling;
Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of VTS;
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate;
Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system;
Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations;
Plans for, organizes, administers, and directs how the work will be accomplished for the VTS program;
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions;
Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management; space utilization services;
Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours between 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must meet the following:
Specialized Experience: All applicants must possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Qualifying specialized experience includes performing transportation appointment scheduling, documenting travel information; collecting, compiling, and tracking data; generates a variety of reports; entering data into automated tracking data bases. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning; subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes. Duties will be predominantly performed in the Veteran Transportation Service program office with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the Medical Center's catchment area both in and near patient care areas where there may be risk of exposure to disease.
