About the Position: This position will work in the Range Maintenance Branch at the Yakima Training Center at Yakima, WA.
Duties
The technical expert and administrative supervisor over the Inspection and testing of various target systems to include hardwired infantry ranges as well as other equipment on gunnery ranges.
Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
Plan, direct, and supervise mission essential functions in connections with operations carried out by subordinate personnel.
Publish daily range bulletin for coordination of road closings to coincide with use and live-fire events.
Select workers and assigns tasks to be performed
Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; instruct subordinates in new procedures; and provide technical advice when problems arise.
Operate 5-ton dump truck to move and load dirt, grounds refuse and other materials.
Enforce local policies and procedures and prepares standard operating procedures for all firing ranges.
Ensure all workers are properly notified whenever roads are to be closed due to firing exercises.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 70 pounds or over with assistance.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license.
- The incumbent must wear protective clothing and other safety equipment. The may be required to meet and maintain the minimum physical requirements established for this position in a YTC Wild Land Firefighting support role.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The incumbent may be required to complete one year Supervisory probationary period unless already completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrical Equipment Repairer Supervisor (Target Devices) without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and testing electrical equipment. I can repair or replace items such as brushes, seals, bearings, gears, leads, armatures, and control parts. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. -Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort - Frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment and parts weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 70 pounds or over with assistance. The work requires bending, stooping, and working in cramped positions.
Working Conditions - Duties are performed outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes and all types of weather conditions, exposure to dust, dirt and mud, cuts, bruises, back strains; injury from flying debris from hand and power tools. Must be able to wear a respirator and use other personnel protective equipment (PPE). Reports for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters and other emergency situations.
