THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION RESTRICTED TO CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI AIR NATIONAL GUARD.
This National Guard position is for a THEATER AEROSPACE OPERATIONS COMMAND AND CONTROL OFFICER, Position Description Number D1504P01 and is part of the MS 186 ARW, National Guard.
Duties
As a THEATER AEROSPACE OPERATIONS COMMAND AND CONTROL OFFICER, GS-2101-13, you will provide instruction to upgrade skills to obtain maximum performance on all aspects of the force-level Air and Space Operations Center (AOC) weapons system. In addition to training responsibilities, incumbent performs administrative tasks in support of the Air Operations Group/Squadron. This position is located in an the Air National Guard (ANG), Component Numbered Air Force (cNAF), Air Operations Group (AOG), Air Operations Squadron (AOS), Air Mobility Squadron (AMOS) and Air Support Squadron (ASUS).
-- Administers refresher and advanced training to ANG military AOC weapons systems positional specialists. Instructs rated pilots, navigators, air battle managers, space operations specialists, and other AOC assigned personnel in advanced aerospace operations applications using current AOC systems of record. Instructs and evaluates all AOC specialists to become instructors. Instructs such personnel to function within established joint doctrinal principles to plan and prosecute theater-level joint operations. Monitors progress during training and advises when AOC personnel are ready for positional certification.
-- Interviews instructors, pilots, navigators, air battle managers, space operations specialists, and other assigned AOC personnel to determine operational background in their respective weapons systems/specialties. Prescribes type, sequence, and extent of required training. Performs as instructor and/or examiner; evaluates and examines AOC personnel to determine preparation for the application of aerospace force/operations, proficiency during actual operations, instructional ability, and technical competence; and conducts post operations critiques. Determines progress and proficiency levels, provides requalification evaluations, and directs/provides specialized remedial or additional training as necessary.
-- Plans, develops, and presents comprehensive courses of instruction on AOC operations skills. Develops and instructs specific courses in all AOC phases of operations. Evaluates formal training directives, and develops course changes, new materials, new training systems, and new methods.
-- Projects unit training requirements. Prepares required training records. Conducts training utilizing AOC plans and operations processes, procedures, systems, and specific positional duties. Reviews and analyzes directives, regulations, reports, and operationally specific publications. Determines additional training requirements to advance proficiency while maintaining the highest practicable mission capable rate.
-- Maintains a thorough knowledge of a variety of specialties to include general and advanced knowledge of AOC assigned weapons systems, U.S. and allied aircraft, space weapons systems, tactical employment of weapons systems, search and rescue, theater missile defense and air tasking order development and execution. Maintains unit positional qualification.
-- Coordinates, plans, and executes Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and Reachback operations. Conducts Command and Control over all subordinate elements of the Theater Air Control System (TACS), including airborne and ground based sensors. Plans and executes datalink operations critical to maintaining and synchronizing situational awareness in multiple theaters.
-- Briefs and instructs operations personnel on mission preparations including: combat effective mission execution. Monitors mental attitudes and individual problems of assigned personnel that might adversely affect mission performance.
Qualifications
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training interpreting, explaining, and/or applying a variety of regulations and procedures. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training arranging or procuring transportation for personnel, cargo or freight. Experience in non-routine pre and post auditing of freight bills, bills of lading, and personnel transportation vouchers. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. *For positions requiring supervisory functions; experience which included responsibility for the supervision and management of personnel.
