The incumbent will function as the Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic of Engineering Service, for the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) and is located in the Kerrville Division Office.
Duties
The incumbent is 100% responsible for the independent planning, maintenance, and repair of the Kerrville Division Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems and all associated equipment. This position also serves as a back up to the Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic for the Laundry Plant. The Kerrville Division Laundry Plant serves as the sole plant for the entire South Texas Health Care System, and is responsible for various other contracts, including other Health Care Systems and private entities. The Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic maintains, diagnoses, and repairs all equipment related to the full functioning of the Kerrville Division Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression System. The equipment in the systems consists of complex computer and electronically-controlled devices which are all integrated into one system and managed at a central, multi-computerized controlled work station.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent is expected to be able to do a considerable amount of walking, standing, stooping, bending, climbing, perform overhead work, and crawling. Incumbent must be able to work from ladders in congested areas, where incumbent is expected to work overhead in tight, cramped, or awkward positions. Incumbent must be able to work under and inside a variety of equipment. Some work will be performed outside or in unconditioned spaces and susceptible to various air temperatures from hot to cold.
