The Wage Grade 3 (WG-3) Food Service Workers perform a wide range of tasks in all areas of the Food Service/Food Production kitchen. WG-3's understand and coordinates the work of lower grade employees and assures that lower grade Food Service Workers perform their work assignments quickly, efficiently and neatly.

Duties

The duties of a Wage Grade 3 Food Service Worker include, but are not limited to, other duties and details as deemed necessary by the service may be included: Demonstrates a broad knowledge of Food Service procedures, including food preparation, dish washing, dry food and perishable food, refrigerated storage, handling of food, and food delivery. The Food Service Worker knows and understand how to read the menu, and tray tickets. Responsible for cleaning and sanitation of the work area and notifies immediate supervisor of any needed repairs. On occasion the WG-3 may relieve a higher graded position in order to receive training opportunities. Directs and assists with serving foods for both regular and modified diets.Understands the more common diets in order to place one or more correct food items on a tray. Portions all food items accurately and neatly, and guides patients in making correct choice of menu items. Assembles and dishes up needed foods according to standard portions, such as pies, cookies, puddings, salads, fruits, hot foods, etc....Makes diet changes and checks tray for accurate heating. Delivers trays to patients' bedside and picks up soiled trays. Serves late trays. Operates dish washing machine, and performs general cleaning tasks as scheduled. Work Schedule: Rotating days, weekends, holidays. Position Description Title/PD#: Food Service Worker/PD99920A Physical Requirements: Must be prepared and able to work in extreme hot and cold conditions, prolong standing in one spot, and ability to push carts up and down slight inclines in a safe operational manner.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
