This position is responsible for direct supervision of Whole Health Partners as well as the facility's delivery of Whole Health
Coaching and skill development of the Whole Health Coaches. The Supervisor oversees the facility's wellbeing and pathway programs, including coordinating logistics, aligning programs with national expectations, and evaluating program effectiveness.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Develops, initiates, and evaluates performance standards
Performs full range of health and wellness coaching
Provides strategic guidance and action planning around Whole Health Pathway and Wellbeing
Performs a full array of supervisory responsibilities for the subordinates in which it directly supervises, including a team of Whole Health Partners (GS-6 Social Services Assistants)
Represents the Health Care System at professional programs and/or events, or on VA or community committees or work groups addressing whole health pathway and wellbeing, including where relevant to addressing issues of culturally competent services, and routinely participates in national VHA conference calls and audio conferences on these and other issues such as motivational interviewing and other behavioral interventions to promote health.
Develops trust with Veterans and incorporates trust principles in day-to-day activities
Hears and resolves minor complaints from employees; seeking higher level support as needed.
Coaches support clients in mobilizing internal strengths and external resources and develops self-management strategies for making sustainable, healthy lifestyle behavior changes and more effectively managing chronic disease.
Reviews current health behaviors and develops customized treatment plans with Veterans.
Conducts outreach activities to inform Veterans and family members of available programs.
Assists with data management analyses, special studies, and reports for use by management for budget preparation, workload
projections, and quality assurance and utilization reviews.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am- 4:30pm

Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/19/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

Mind Body Facilitator Certification
Experience facilitating Whole Health Pathway programming, including Whole Health Intro Group and Taking Charge of My Life and Health Group

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Develops, adjusts and monitors facility wide programs in support of Whole Health Pathway and Wellbeing initiatives
Oversees professional skill development and mentorship of subordinate employees to support annual and ongoing competencies
Develops trust with Veterans and incorporates trust principles in day-to-day activities
Provides training and troubleshooting for other health coaches in health coaching administrative processes and associated supporting issues.
Develops and conducts onsite educational series for enrolled Veterans, family members, and VA employees to explain whole health pathway and wellbeing, including health coaching and its uses and benefits.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree-OR- LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Physical Requirements: General nature of the work is desk work, conducting presentations within the facility and in the community, conducting training for subordinates, facilitating group-based programs in various learning environments. Some outreach activities may require changes
in tour of duty to accommodate participation. Ability to communicate in tele health or other technologies is necessary.
