You will serve as an Information Technology Specialist (NETWORK) at the GG-13 grade level and will carry out difficult and complex assignments utilizing information technology (IT) systems and services to include installation, operation, and maintenance of automated communications systems and other desktop technologies. This position is located in Suitland, MD in the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER.
Duties
You will design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of new or existing VTC capable systems.
You will develop solutions which may require backwards compatibility for legacy systems, complex connections in support of multi-domain configurations and/or creativity due to limitations on approved products.
You will monitor, develop and implement plans, policies, systems and processes to track extensive inventory, essential accessories and ancillary items.
You will update, maintain and archive data relating to system usage, outage duration, etc. for systems located world-wide.
You will need to be familiar with layer 1 thru 3 network equipment as it pertains to video conferencing (VC) and layer 2 network security measures.
You will need to be familiar common system administrator tools and techniques (e.g., CLI, PuTTy, etc.) to manage information systems.
You will configure and maintain Cisco Unified Communications hardware (e.g. Cisco Meeting Server (CMS), VQ Conference Manager, Expressway, Webex Room Kit series, Desk Pro, DX series).
You will plan interdepartmental coordination/communication, onsite/offsite scheduling, executing and closing projects.
You will need to be familiar with roles and responsibilities of decision makers as it relates to systems installations within a secured facility.
You will assess and develop system security processes and procedures.
You will provide assistance and advice to users of information technology (IT) systems.
You will provide guidance to resolve processing problems.
You will conduct interviews with users and generate requirements for new or modified information technology (IT) systems/services, software and/or hardware.
You will assess system/network vulnerabilities and ensure optimal use of commercially available products.
You will brief senior leaders on recommended changes and modifications to information technology (IT) systems and services.
You will present information technology (IT) initiatives to managers to apprise them of potential impacts or improvements of capabilities.
Requirements

Qualifications

In addition to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS/GG-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
Diagnosing, analyzing and resolving information technology (IT) systems, software and/or hardware problems.
Testing and optimizing the functionality of information technology (IT) data transfers between systems, networks and data backbones.
Reviewing information technology (IT) certification and accreditation documentation to ensure that it is compliant with standards, policy, and regulations.
Identifying and defining technical requirements applied to the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, management and support of information technology (IT) systems and networks.
Performing installation, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of information technology (IT) hardware or software.
