About the Position: Serves as Inpatient Behavioral Health (IBH) Psychology Technician in Department of Behavioral Health(BH), providing individualized and group direct and indirect patient care to clients that are primarily active-duty military soldiers and other eligible personnel, and consultation.

Duties
Provides practical, short-term supportive counseling services for assigned clients with varying degrees of severity.
Assists in developing the treatment plan based on interview data, observations, reports of others, review of records, psychological test results, and physical and mental status of the client.
Provides supportive counseling to help patient to work out problems, vent feelings, express past history.
Identifies and meets needs of patients for activities of daily living, involvement in activities, understanding of illness, and discharge planning.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to work rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification through the America Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Must obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMBD) required training.
- This position requires occasional TDY - 5%.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement therefore the incumbent is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating mental health patients to determine required services; providing counseling services; and maintaining patient files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as
Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling (ex. crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and
Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the
computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of
experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
