About the Position: Serves as an Office Administrator (Office Automation) at a lake project or Operations Project (OP) office. Responsible for providing administrative and clerical support and serving as the point of contact and primary source of information for administrative processing.
Management may select at the GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07 grade levels. Full performance is at the GS-07 grade level.
Duties
Assists with planning, preparing, and supporting meetings and conferences.
Answers routine telephone inquiries, and/or refers to the appropriate staff. Communicates face to face with customers, by email, and with video conferencing technology such as Microsoft Teams.
Provides administrative support for organization by preparing reports and other documents utilizing various types of programs and automated information systems.
Gathers information by coordinating with various offices. Compile data for reports such as budget execution, program management, quality management, training status, and a wide variety of routine tracking, analysis and reporting products.
Creates travel requests for the organization through an automated travel site in accordance with statutory requirements outlined in the Joint Travel Regulation.
Coordinates travel arrangements, resolves discrepancies involving travel methods, appropriate types of leave while on official travel, and overtime and reimbursement errors.
Prepares travel documents for Temporary Duty (TDY) Assignment, Permanent Change of Station (PCS), and invitational travel orders. Researches travel modes and accommodations, performs cost analysis, and recommends most efficient method of travel.
Assists supervisors and other staff with questions regarding personnel related matters.
Provides assistance to employees with various types of office automation to include printing and faxing. Retrieves documents, drafts correspondence, reviews documents for correct formatting, and transmits finalized reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license.
- Incumbent must be able to type at least 40 words per minute on a computer keyboard to utilize software to accomplish office work.

GS-05 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment; preparing correspondence; maintaining files or records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory records; and timekeeping. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited program in a related field such as business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment; preparing correspondence; maintaining files and records; making travel arrangements; maintaining inventory of records for hand receipt accounts on property; making credit card purchases; gathering budgetary data; prepare and monitor labor hours and fund requests; use automated personnel and timekeeping databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes procedural and administrative work in an office environment; making travel arrangements, initiating travel orders and vouchers, preparing travel funding requests for authorization. Serve as a government purchase card (GPC) holder for local purchases orders for the office; coordinate training requirements; assist in preparation and analysis of operating budget; use of various types of automated personnel databases to initiate personnel actions; knowledge of financial management systems to complete duties as a timekeeper to complete labor reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education
Some positions in the federal service allow applicants to substitute education for experience. For this job series, you may substitute education for experience to qualify at the GS-05 grade level. You must qualify based on specialized experience alone for the GS-06 and GS-07 grade levels -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06 and GS-07 grade levels.
