Duties

Serves as supervisor and manages field office with a staff of over 20 employees based in in Palatka, FL. Overseas and manages invasive species management program and projects for navigation, flood risk management and ecosystem restoration. Overseas the Heavy Equipment Operations Team that works on ecosystem restoration, dredged management material and other earth work and horizontal construction projects. Coordinates with Corps, other agencies, and private individuals to ensure all projects have adequate manpower, equipment, and financial support. Overseas and administers contracts through coordination with contracting officers. Develops and implements short- and long-range plans for invasive species and heavy equipment operations programs. Ensure all projects and personnel follow proper Safety and Environmental Compliance rules.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: ability to conduct invasive species and vegetation surveys using Geographic Information System/Global Positioning Systems (GIS/GPS) as well as entering and analyzing environmental data in various databases. Ability to perform aquatic surveys on large rivers and lakes in a boat or airboat. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Biological Field InvestigationBotanyConflict ManagementData Entry and AnalysisNatural Resource ManagementOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
