The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the unit Aviation Resource Management (SARM) Technician with responsibility for the Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS), duty desk operations, scheduling, aircrew training management, operational reports and technical guidance in support of assigned and possibly transient aircrew.
Duties
Operates and Maintains Unit or Group Consolidated Operations Center.
Operates, monitors, maintains and updates squadron/group consolidated level Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS) including aircrew training and flying hour management.
Performs a variety of aviation resource management administrative duties.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships.

- Experience in the Host and/or Squadron Aviation Resource Management Field in an Air Force environment for 4 of the recent 6 years is highly desirable.
- May be required to travel TDY as directed by management, sometimes on short notice, traveling by commercial
or military aircraft or by any other designated means.
- May be required to assume duties of others in unit or other like units in case of absences.
- May be required to perform duties of NCOIC or leader as directed.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as rotating shifts, overtime, weekend, call back, uncommon tours of duty, etc. Overtime as flying schedule/mission dictates may be a common occurrence .
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical or Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes experience serving as a unit Aviation Resource Management (SARM) Technician with responsibility for the Aviation Resource Management System (ARMS), duty desk operations, scheduling, aircrew training management, operational reports and technical guidance in support of assigned and/or transient aircrew while providing effective aviation unit-level resource management; accurate data analysis to senior leadership, ensuring resource readiness; and effective liaison with other agencies, functions, and individuals.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of, and skill in applying, Aviation Resource Management (ARMS) directives, instructions and manuals, with emphasis on knowledge of personnel flight records maintenance, operating/navigating ARMS data system operating procedures, file structure, interface requirements and oracle browsers, preparation, processing and auditing of associated documentation (e.g., AFTO Form 781). Knowledge gained in an Air Force environment is highly desirable; knowledge of the A via ti on Resource career field proficiency and skills enhancement requirements.
Knowledge and experience in using advanced functions of office automation software ( e.g. word processing, excel, spread sheet, etc); ability to input and extract data using a keyboard. Qualified typist not required.
Ability to communicate orally and legibly in writing; ability to cooperate and work with others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy and in a business-like manner.
Ability to analyze transactions and records and to interpret directives governing assigned area.
Knowledge of, and ability to implement, procedures for safeguarding classified information and databases, computer security procedures, etc.
Skill and demonstrated ability to work in a high operations tempo atmosphere.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
