You will serve as an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST in the RADAR OPERATIONS CONTROL CENTER of FLT AREA CONTROL SURVEILLANCE FAC.

Duties

You will assign positions of operation and identify training needs based on the capabilities of employees and current requirements, and review performance of watch team on a constant basis to ensure that operational standards are met. You will ensure the use of proper control procedures and techniques by assigned personnel. You will ensure effective coordination within the facility and between facilities. You will receive complaints from pilots and adjacent facilities regarding procedures provided by the facility and accumulated initial data for forwarding to the Air Traffic Control Facility Officer. You will maintain continuity within the Air Traffic Control Facilities training program and provide assistance in the planning, execution, and supervision of the training, certification, and standardization programs.

Requirements

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Air traffic control specialists must possess the facility ratings required at the facility where the position is located. You will be required to maintain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Managing and coordinating the safe, orderly and expeditious movement of air traffic within delegated airspace and overall functioning of the air traffic control facilities to promote combat readiness of U.S. forces and support homeland defense.
