This position is located in Facilities Management Service, Engineering Section in the Construction and Maintenance (C & M) Shop. The primary purpose of the position involves carpentry work in support of construction, maintenance, repair, installation, troubleshooting, testing and inspecting of real and personal property.
Duties
Duties:
Performs duties of a maintenance mechanic which involves maintaining, repairing, installing, modifying, troubleshooting, testing, and inspecting of real and personal property in trades such as electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry.
Works with journeyman mechanic on more difficult assignments.
Performs maintenance, repairs, and inspections on carpentry items such as ceiling tiles, ward furniture, office furniture, walls, floors, trim, windows, handrails, cubical tracks, and curtain rods.
Hangs pictures, bulletin boards, and other hanging devices. Adjusts doors, door closers, hardware and stops.
Performs maintenance, repairs, and inspections on plumbing systems such as sinks, water closets, drinking fountains, hot water storage, hot and cold water lines, copper, brass and iron, sanitary sewers, vents, and storm sewers.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Required to work from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms. Work requires standing, reaching, bending, climbing, and stooping as the work site dictates. May work above ground level and in manholes. Lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment, and parts necessary to do the job. Sometimes performs work in cramped areas, on temporary platforms and above head. Generally lifts and carries items up to 90 pounds.
