You will serve as a DEPUTY HARBOR OPERATIONS OFFICER in the HARBOR OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of NAVSTA MAYPORT.

Duties

You will advise CO on operational requirements or issues with potential to impact vessel movements and shore support provision; recommend and implement port administrative policies that directly impact operations, productivity, and efficiency. You will provide daily priorities, direction, guidance and sets and adjusts short-term priorities and work based on tasks assigned to Installation Port Operation personnel. You will track and report installation program performance data. You will ensure all berthing and ship move requirements are known, planned, coordinated, and scheduled. You will enforce and monitor standards of service in accordance with established policy and regulations. This includes the sustainment of the boats and equipment required to accomplish ship movements.

  • Work is perform on piers, and ships, which require the use of protective devices, clothing, or equipment, while exposed to adverse environmental and hazardous work assignments.
  • Boarding of fleet units pier side require the ability to climb four to twenty-five foot brow platforms, and walk across fifty foot brows, and occasionally climb ships' accommodation ladders.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Interpreting and applying maritime laws, regulations and port operations practices and procedures to: 1) Plan, coordinate, and schedule berthing and ship move requirements; 2) Set daily priorities, giving direction and guidance, and setting and adjusting short-term priorities and work based on tasks assigned to personnel; and 3) Track and report technical data, estimates, statistics, and other port information.
