This is a Career-Seasonal position. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work approximately 11 months in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year approximately 07/23 to 08/05.

Duties

This position serves as a Visual Information Specialist who supports program plans develop by program supervisors' and/or supports public outreach through multi-media projects. Work includes planning the visual aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagram, magazine, exhibits, and other means of communication such as web content where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are predetermined. The major duties of this position include the following: Visual information design and production for park publications and exhibits. Project Management for complicated interpretive media projects, including contract management. Social Media and Content Management System (CMS) (NPS website) authoring and coordination. Produce short video projects for use in exhibits and digital platforms.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-09/21/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, HR must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. All applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: GS-07 Level: Must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience includes but is not limited to the following: Experience directing, filming, editing, and producing videos for a public audience that convey intended messages; Developing and producing visual products for print and/or web pages using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere); Participating as a team member on all visual media projects and events. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Successful completion one full year of graduate level education with major study in commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must submit a copy of your transcript. -OR- Superior Academic Achievement based on: 1) class standing, 2) grade-point average, or 3) honor society membership. Specific requirements are: 1) Class Standing: Upper third of graduating class based on completed courses; 2a) Grade Point Average: 3.0 or higher as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education; 2b) based on courses completed during the final full 2 years of curriculum; or 2c) 3.5 or higher based on average of courses completed in the specific major field of study; or 3) Honor Society Membership: Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society listed in the Association of College Honor Societies, Booklet of Information, and/or Baird's Manual of American College Fraternities (membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision). Degree must be directly related to the occupation, (see Education section). You must include a copy of your transcripts. -OR- Successful completion a combination of specialized experience and graduate study. The total must equal at least 100 percent in order to meet this description. GS-09 level: Must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) Specialized experience includes, but is not limited to the following: Providing visual and audio production services using nationally established guidelines and/or industry standards; Planning the preparation and use of visual aspects of printed materials such as books, handouts, bulletins, etc. for use in communicating information through visual means; Producing Web pages and other visual materials using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere); And Planning, coordinating, publicizing, and managing special events including distributing information related to such event. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Master's degree must be in major studies - commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion a combination of specialized experience and graduate study. The total must equal at least 100 percent in order to meet this description. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
