Duties
This position is located in the Four Comers Construction Office (FCCO), Office of the Construction Engineer, Farmington, NM, and serves as the principal administrative support for the Construction Engineer (CE) and Deputy Construction Engineer.
At the full performance level, the primary duties of this position are:
Exercise control over the Construction Engineer's calendar.
Schedule commitments for appointments, travel, and other official contacts and establishes priorities and reschedules
appointments as necessary.
Review in-boxes, telephone messages, and E-Mail for routine requests, inquiries,
Coordinate and prepare correspondence for signature by reviewing draft correspondence for format, grammar, spelling, basic content, etc.
Apply an understanding of reporting system requirements including written responses, verbal responses, and electronic reporting system.
Provide advise and guidance regarding administrative procedures, office policies, and correspondence practices to administrative support positions throughout FCCO.
Assist in the development, implementation, and modifies a workload management system and process for FCCO, which includes effective document tracking, filing and retrieval, and deadline and action item tracking.
Serve as the safety clerk for FCCO, including preparing agendas and taking minutes for the monthly safety management committee meetings.
Compile and submit accident reports.
Prepare safety related awards.
Qualifications
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-06, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as having five (5) or more of the following: 1) Administrative and clerical support activities such as calendar management, mail distribution, filing, data entry, answering and directing phone calls; 2) Operating computer software packages such as Microsoft Suite; 3) Making travel and lodging arrangements; 4) Review time and attendance for accuracy; 5) Tracking and monitoring action items; 6) Review and edits documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and required formats; 7) Establishing office procedures and recommending improvements as needed.
To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as having six (6) or more of the following: 1) Administrative and clerical support activities such as calendar management, mail distribution, filing, data entry, answering and directing phone calls; 2) Operating computer software packages such as Microsoft Suite; 3) Making travel and lodging arrangements; 4) Review time and attendance for accuracy; 5) Tracking and monitoring action items;
6) Review and edits documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and required formats. 7) Establishing office procedures and recommending improvements as needed; 8) Coordinating work with other programs or offices, including advising clerical staff on new policies, procedures, or regulations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
