The position is in the Department of Veterans llliana Health Care System, Danville, Illinois and is under the direct supervision of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Supervisory Coordinator. In cooperation with the Supervisory Coordinator this incumbent is responsible for all administrative activities of the PM&RS programs and serves as liaison for PM&RS functions located at the Community Based Outpatient Clinics.

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Your duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: The incumbent serves as the Administrative Assistant in PM&RS at the VAIHCS. As PM&RS Administrative Assistant, the incumbent is responsible for a broad range of administrative, clerical, and clinical duties associated with six direct patient care clinics/departments in PM&RS. The incumbent is responsible for the independent performance of administrative duties as delegated by the Supervisory Coordinator and/or the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service provides care for patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis and includes six unique sections; Chiropractic Section, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Audiology, and Speech Pathology. There are currently a total of approximately 47 employees in PM&RS for whom the incumbent provides administrative and technical advice and support. The physical layout, the variety of programs and peculiar staffing problems related to this Medical Center impose duties and responsibilities which are both complex and extensive in nature. Major duties and responsibilities consist of the following: Under the direction of the Supervisory Coordinator this incumbent will assign work-load distribution within the PM&RS office, clerical and scheduling staff. Recommends and provides advice on clerical staff tasks to the Supervisory Coordinator and /or the Chief, PM&RS. The incumbent facilitates productive administrative operations of PM&RS office by effective utilization of human and equipment resources and coordinates and plans implantation of new methods and processes. This incumbent maintains daily supervision of the clerical and scheduling functions of the PM&RS clerical, scheduling and program support employees. This incumbent provides input for staff evaluations to the Supervisory Coordinator. Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following: Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a secretary. Specialized experience includes providing administrative support; receives calls, establishing and maintaining files; prepares drafts of correspondence, reports and minutes of meetings. ~OR~ Education: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts required. ~OR~ Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Attention to DetailClericalCommunicationCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week.
