This position is under the direct supervision of the Business Office Manager for the Kyle Health Center. The incumbent will provide administrative support services to clinical staff through patient registration and eligibility services. Such assignments will require routine interaction to patients. The duties of the position require great communication abilities to engage, respond, and obtain accurate information.
Duties
Enters, updates and verifies alternate resources for patient registration and billing.
Determines if approval is required for specific services for billing purposes.
Determines the eligibility of patients seeking health care.
Interviews and collects third party information. Scans information into the patient record.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Typing Proficiency: Type at least 40 words per minute on a 5-minute with three or fewer errors.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-04: One (1) year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to perform the work of this position at the GS-4 level.
OR
Two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
GS-05: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level providing patient registration and eligibility services information, interacting with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, private and commercial insurance.
OR
Four (4) years of education above the high school level.
OR
Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.
GS-06: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level providing patient registration and eligibility services information, assess patient documentation for eligibility, use medical guidelines, identify health benefits that require prior approval and/or pre-certification, enter patient data to registration automated system.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
