You will serve as a RESERVE ORDERS ASSISTANT in the Operations Department, N3/N7 of NRC PHOENIX.

Duties

You will serve as Navy Reserve Order Writing System (NROWS) order processing subject-matter expert and Defense Travel System (DTS) and non-DTS coordinator. You will process training orders, modifications and cancellations for reservists assigned to the Command. You will approve or disapprove funding, follow up on outstanding obligations, analyze training budget and monitor funding use. You will provide guidance and assistance in creating and correcting order requirements and applications, and travel authorizations and vouchers. You will assist in administration of the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program through activation/deactivation accounts, processing and submitting applications.

Requirements

  • You must successfully complete the Navy Reserve Order Writing System/Reserve Defense Travel System within six months of employment.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • The incumbent must be capable of computer work including various job specific programs and Microsoft Office.
  • Work requires the employee to successfully complete the Navy Reserve Order Writing System/Reserve Defense Travel System course within six months of employment.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Drill weekend work is required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience processing annual training travel orders. Experience reviewing order justification, authorization, and accuracy against requirements. Experience utilizing travel regulations such as the Joint Travel Regulation. Experience reviewing travel vouchers for accuracy and compliance. Experience resolving outstanding travel advances from current fiscal year and prior years. Experience with solving pay issues and utilizing pay systems. Experience administering a travel charge card program by activating and deactivating accounts, processing and submitting applications.
