About the Position: The Yakima Training Center (YTC) is located in south central Washington State, adjacent to the community of Selah and 10miles from Yakima. The Cascade Range protects the area from rain, so the region enjoys over 300 days of sunshine each year. The area is known for a wide variety of agriculture, including apples, cherries, stone fruit, lavender, wine grapes, and hops. Over 100 wineries and breweries are located throughout the Yakima Valley.

Duties

Orders supplies and services through government supply channels, regular procurement channels, or credit card procedures. Reviews requests for supplies and services for justification, compliance with regulations, and adequacy of funding. Operates various types of trucks and forklifts which typically have a GVW of 10,000 pounds or less, on standard routes under limited traffic conditions at low speeds. Ensures proper storage and handling methods are followed to prevent damage and deterioration and to ensure effective service and security. Works with hand receipt holders to conduct periodic inventories. Investigates discrepancies and takes corrective action. Works with the installation property book officer to coordinate transfer, turn-in, and disposal of excess property.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator Certification.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
