The primary purpose of this position is to be the Dean of Faculty (DF) Student Information System (SIS) Access and Roles POC responsible for managing SIS access to system applications and cadet/other data based on DF faculty/staff position and job responsibilities.

Duties

Develops and executes the Student Information System (SIS) access and role privileges control plan for SIS applications and cadet/other data based on assigned Dean of Faculty (DF) Faculty/Staff role. Assists with development of education and training materials and testing procedures. Conducts Student Information System access and privileges training courses. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization and supports the division chief to facilitate the registration and scheduling for cadets.

  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3.
  • Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0300/computer-clerk-and-assistant-series-0335/ SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of IT applications software concepts, principles, methods and practices sufficient to plan and carry out assignments, to include developing alternate approaches and procedures to meet mission requirements; must have a detailed knowledge of applications software input and output parameters at the data element level; knowledge of the functions and capabilities of operating computer applications, office automation devices, user languages and layout of the Student Information System and associated scheduling software as it pertains to reports; knowledge of College University or Military Academy organizational requirements, responsibilities, policies and procedure to include knowledge of specific educational programs and processes, including academic, military and athletic requirements and other post-secondary education requirements. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of College University or Military Academy student informations systems, organizational requirements, responsibilities, policies and procedure to include knowledge of educational programs and processes, including academic, military and athletic requirements and other post-secondary education requirements. Fundamental knowledge of IT applications software concepts, principles, methods and practices sufficient to plan and carry out assignments, to include developing alternate approaches and procedures to meet mission requirements. Must have a detailed knowledge of applications software input and output parameters at the data element level. Knowledge of training tools methods, principles, practices, and programs to facilitate SIS access and application use. Ability to developed adhoc system access and user's familiarization training materials and briefings. Ability to gather, develop, and analyze a variety of data and make recommendations based on findings/analysis. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
