The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a systems administrator with responsibility for planning and coordinating the installation, testing, modifying, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems to support training and development for USAF technical training courses.
Duties
Performs services as a system administrator
Evaluates computer based technologies and their effect on the operational training environment.
Develops and documents systems administration standard operating procedures and provides guidance to leadership.
Provides system administration, technical assistance, systems advisory, and training.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- This is a drug testing position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. The incumbent of this position must achieve appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology Management (Alternative A)
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 or equivalent pay systems. Specialized experience includes experience with systems integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures; experience with configuration management methods and techniques for integrating information system components sufficient to install and maintain software and hardware, optimize functionality of systems, and diagnose and recover failed systems. Ability to develop formal and informal training session materials/user instructions or manuals and to present training which enables customer understanding and operation.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a full range of information systems design principles, methodologies, and approaches used in developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining system/network services that support functional training requirements.
Knowledge of civil engineering and logistics at a practical level to include procedures, common test equipment, common tool usage, safety, security, and management directives.
Knowledge of professional principles, practices, and techniques of instruction as well as professional training concepts, practices, policies, and procedures incorporating technology in the delivery of training.
Knowledge of the latest advancements in technology to initiate corrective and preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system.
Knowledge of operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of IT systems/services.
Ability to apply methods and practices for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improvising systems to solve complex problems and provide support that minimizes interruptions in service to customers. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
