This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. This position is located at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Indian Health Center (ACLIHC). The incumbent is responsible for the safe and secure environment of care for patients, staff, visitors, and housing occupants. The security force conducts patrols and surveillance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Duties

Directs the security program at the Acoma-Canoncito-Laguna Indian Health Center and is responsible for a safe and secure environment of care for patients, staff, visitors, and housing occupants. Manages potential danger from fire, accidents, theft, unauthorized entry, internal/external disasters and other security and safety threats. Performs coordinator duties involving passing directions and information to Police Officers, coordinating emergency responses between security, fire and other emergency units, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints. Responsible for annual planning and implementing the Security Department budget. Responsible for department personnel management activities including recruitment, staffing, employee relations, labor management relations, awards, training and orientation. Explains and issues orders to subordinates for accomplishments within established regulations and policies. Receives and reviews daily written reports and logs from subordinates.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. NOTE: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. With few exceptions by law, non-veterans who are not permanently employed at the applicable Service Unit/Area Office, cannot be selected when there are Veterans Preference eligibles available. However, permanent federal employees currently serving in a position covered by the same generic title as the one to be filled, may be selected without regard to Veterans Preference. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM: Security Guard Series, 0085 GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of Specialized Experience examples: Experience such as work with a federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protection of life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying. Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position. INVESTIGATION OF FITNESS: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U. S. Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties of these positions require moderate to arduous physical exertion and/or duties of a hazardous nature.
