This position is located in the Office of Scientific Coordination and Program Operations (OSCPO), Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Qualifications
In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, GS-0601 position, you must meet these requirements:
Education:
You must have successfully completed a full 4 year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained).

Additional Qualifications:
In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, 0601 at the GS-12 level you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: conducting epidemiology-related health research; managing and evaluating grant applications; preparing comprehensive reports of study results; preparing funding plans and evaluating progress reports for funded projects.
In order to qualify for a Health Specialist, 0601, at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Government obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: planning, coordinating and implementing activities for epidemiology-related research programs; conducting initial scientific and administrative review of program project grant and training grant applications; assisting staff with grant related administrative activities including preparing funding plans and evaluating progress reports for funded projects; carrying out segments of complex studies covering a wide range of health topics.
