The Supervisory Nurse (Deputy Nurse Executive) position is located at the Fort Yuma Service Unit, Winterhaven, CA. This position functions under the direct supervision of the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) and serves as a full assistant to the CNE and has direct day to day authority over all personnel and work operations as well as performing clinical nursing duties.
Duties
Provides direction, leadership, guidance, professionalism, supervision and performance evaluations for the Primary Care Department (nurse's, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants and medical support assistant).
Responsible for provision of Nursing Care in the Department, including compliance with standards of care, patient safety, and compliance with other applicable standards.
Planning work for the Department; including work schedules, adjusting work schedules as needed to meet patient care needs.
Evaluates daily operations and service provided to assure efficient use of resources, including patient flow, work flow and productivity.
Conducts monthly meetings with department staff, assuring communication for clinic related initiatives are met and ensures that required trainings are completed for the Department.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure:
For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Assisting with oversight of a nursing program that includes planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating operations for the program; evaluating and assuring quality of standards of nursing practice and maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies; assisting in reviewing and making recommendations on policy regarding clinical practice; planning and evaluating patient care services; supervising nursing employees.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
