The DC Courts provide free childcare services for children aged 2.5 to 12 while parents/guardians are conducting business at the courthouse.  The Assistant Director of the Child Care Center applies knowledge of child growth and development when working with children, performs administrative tasks that support effective operations, and provides excellent customer service to families and other stakeholders.

• Background and security investigation are required.
• A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed.
• Fingerprint and Child Protection Registry Check.
• Health Clearance Screening if selected.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or special education; or a bachelor's degree in any subject area with at least 15 credit hours in early childhood education or early childhood development, and at least 1-year supervised experience working with children in a licensed DC Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction. Certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED training. Certification as a Food Safety Manager including Department of Health (DOH) ID card, or ability to obtain such certification within 6 months. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts’ values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts are required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.   If you are selected for the Assistant Director of the Child Care Center position, you will be required to provide a health clearance certification before employment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Education

Foreign Education: Education completed outside the United States must have been evaluated by a private U.S. organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials, commonly called a credential evaluation service or education to meet the above requirements.
