THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a WL-3806-10 SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) LEADER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2731000 in SPMD 4740 and is part of the MO TASMG Shop. APPOINTMENT FACTORS: This is an Indefinite/Permanent (may retain current tenure if on-board) Excepted Service position. This is a bargaining position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BELOW.

Duties

Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment, and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. Provides recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Performs the full range of shop work. Perform in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop. Inspects aircraft composite rotor blade condition to include hardware replacement. Uses various types of preservatives which protect metal and material of rotor blades and hardware. Performs repair of rotor blades with pre-fabrication plugs, training edge patches, and skin laminate repairs. Completes repairs to include painting of repaired parts and areas using primers/paints on aircraft surfaces using both Chemical Agent Resistant Coating (CARC) and automotive painting techniques. Operates forklifts and overhead cranes to move containerized and noncontainerized rotor blades to or from a staging area and/or within the shop. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Performs on-the-job (OJT) training. Evaluates training effectiveness. May be required to serve on maintenance assistance teams throughout supported region. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • If selected individual is in a Permanent status (Tenure 1 or 2) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Permanent status.
  • If selected individual is in an Indefinite status (Tenure 3) with the Missouri Army National Guard, that individual will retain their Indefinite status.
  • Management has the right to convert this position to permanent status without re-advertising.
  • Indefinite employment can be terminated with a 30 day notice.

Qualifications

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an Excepted Service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Selected candidate will be required to be in a compatible military assignment prior to effective date of placement. Selected candidate must be MOS qualified within 12 months from date of appointment. Enlisted - CMF 15 Supervisor must verify that selected individual occupies a compatible military position. Technicians will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor or wage leader (grade inversion). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided you with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series; experience or training which demonstrates your ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series. WL-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 24 months of specialized experience in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams; using more complicated shop tools and equipment; using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys and demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments. Must also possess experience that demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series; ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment and the ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series.
