About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, Tidewater Market. It is located within the department of Security, Director for Administration, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Virginia. The primary purpose of this position is subject to the orders of the Security Officer and shall have responsibility for physical protection of sensitive materials or processes against criminal terrorist or hostile activities, updating physical security plans and local procedures.
Duties
Maintain responsibility for physical protection of sensitive materials or processes against criminal terrorist or hostile activities per order of the Security Officer.
Conduct annual physical security survey in accordance with prescribed policies and regulations.
Update Physical Security Plans, Loss Prevention Manuals and Crisis Response Instructions for the security program.
Conduct surveys in conjunction with incidents of reported missing, lost, or stolen government property.
Serve as the Loss Prevention Technical Specialist/Security Advisor during required meetings of the installation committees.
Keep the Security Officer informed of changes in security policies issued by higher authority and makes suggestions regarding their implementation.
Conduct classroom training on physical security and crime prevention for newly reporting personnel and annual training forall personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A Secret Clearance check is required.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. Incumbent will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Call back and emergency overtime maybe requirements of this position.
- Must retain a motor vehicle driver license from the state of residence.
- This is a Mission Essential position. Employee is required to remain in place or report for duty during inclement weather conditions or other appropriate emergency conditions.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a Department of Defense Physical Security course within 6 months of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete Anti-Terrorism Officer ashore course within one year of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) performing audits of security programs to maintain compliance, 2) providing consultative services to personnel regarding security programs and regulations, 3) performing clerical support tasks in support of security administration processes and 4) conducting physical security related training to new and current personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
