Duties
Responsible for supporting select multi-Service/Agency programs managed at a regional or national level.
Exercises control over the supply and distribution of assigned items, based on overall program goals.
Generates long term and short-term purchase requests and stock transport orders.
Establishes priorities to ensure maximum and efficient utilization within available fund limitations.
Leads or is part of technical evaluation team, evaluating contractor proposals for adequacy, completeness, and compliance with terms and conditions of the solicitation.
Applies comprehensive knowledge of inventory management policies and understanding of the supply management process in performing independent analyses and resolution of highly complex issues and problems in the assigned areas of responsibility.
Responsible for the accuracy of the final results of the Time Phased Inventory Plan (TPIP) and Inventory Deployment Plan
Maintains master data, planning rules, planning parameters (e.g., lead-time, safety stock) and generates exceptions to the TPIP.
Identifies requirements to constraints, shortfalls, performs risk assessments, and develops constrained action plans.
Ensures supply plans are consistent with stock objectives and that supply chain data is consistent with strategic plans, and program requirements.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Inventory Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Creating a supply plan analysis.
Evaluating the effectiveness of current tools, policies, and processes.
Comparing supply requirements to constraints, for shortfall identification and risk assessments.
Analyzing trends affecting item planning activities.
Implementing new forecasting tools.
Developing resolutions for highly complex supply issues.
Working with laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to planning and inventory management.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
