This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for developing system procedures for system reliability and vulnerability management for on-prem and cloud-based network infrastructure.

Duties

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021. As an IT Specialist (NETWORK) at the GS-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Developing and implementing system diagnostic and maintenance tools for network systems. Serving as a technical subject matter expert for network system security within TSD, specifically in the area of on-prem and cloud based network infrastructure and software support with specific focus on system vulnerability management. Providing technical oversight for teams of government and contractor IT specialists involved in problem resolution and provides expert systems engineering advice. Monitoring services such as Forescout or Cisco ISE; Provides Tier 2 support of VOIP services. Planning, designing and carrying out research and evaluation of next generation physical/virtual network infrastructure. Steering cloud based technology designs and documentation. Evaluating new releases/new versions to identify changes, enhancements and other differences between new releases/new versions and current network services running in DSCA.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Developing system procedures for system reliability and vulnerability management for on-prem and cloud-based network infrastructure Applying IT standards to determine the effectiveness of network hardware/software/communications requirements; Analyzing various factors and conditions associated with a particular architecture, including, but not limited to: establishing design criteria, advising on Infrastructure Support (IS) application software characteristics, requirements and use. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This is a Security Cooperation (SC) position due to the nature of the position's duties and responsibilities. Incumbent must attain DoD Security Cooperation Workforce (SCW) Certification and complete related continuous learning requirements in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2017, Title 10 United States Code, Section 384 and DoD Instruction 5132.15, "Implementation of the Security Cooperation Workforce Certification Program". Incumbent must complete DoD SCW Basic-level certification courses within one year. This position requires the incumbent to possess or attain at least an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification within 6 months of entering the position. Employees will be required to sign a Statement of Understanding regarding the certification requirement and maintaining the required certification is a condition of employment. This position has been identified and will be covered by DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and requires certification
