This position is under the Property and Supply Section of the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties associated with mail, property and supply management operations. Responsible for receipt, processing, delivery, and distribution of the Service Unit mail and related functions, including equipment supplies, minor maintenance and reports..

Duties

Provides protection and safe delivery of the Service Unit mail to and from the United States Post Office, FEDEX and UPS. Distributes incoming mail into any of the fifty-six (56) assigned Unit/Section mailbox consisting of approximately seventy (70) or more operating programs. Assures all necessary information is complete and maintains record for all outgoing certified, federal express, priority, registered mail. Establishes and maintains record on controlled mail ( e.g. checks, registered, insured and certified) and obtains signature upon delivery. Sacks, wraps or bundles such material as required for regular, special handling or express mail and adheres to departure schedules. Establishes and maintains individual accounts for various programs in order to account for outgoing mail for the respective programs. Utilizes an authorized scale, mail meter and the automated mail equipment in the processing of the outgoing mail. Implements mail management technique, applies appropriate mail classification and rates to effect cost savings for the Service Unit mail. Serves as the contact persons for General Services Administration (GSA) and IHS Motor Vehicle Fleet Management. Establishes and maintains files and records on assigned and returned vehicles.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-04: Applicant must have successfully completed 2 years of education above high school -OR- One year of general experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of general experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements at grades GS-5 and below. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
