The applicant functions as the Utility Systems Operator Supervisor for Facilities Management Service. S/he has full responsibility for the supervision of one (1) trade shop leader man and thirteen (13) trades shop mechanics. S/he is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance and Operation Supervisor, Engineering Section.
Duties
Duties include:
Incumbent must provide technical guidance and monitoring using blueprints, sketches, diagrams, pamphlets, technical orders, bulletins, and other oral and written directives.
Incumbent plans and establishes work schedules as necessary to accomplish mission of performing recurring and non-recurring maintenance and repair and preventive maintenance.
Plans overall work schedules and sequence of operations on a weekly, project, or longer basis to assure an even flow and distribution of work, the expeditious handling of priority cases, and the meeting of schedules and deadlines.
Advises Maintenance & Operations Supervisor of the capabilities of assigned work force, requirements for materials, equipment, workspace, and any other assistance that may be required.
Provides information and advice to upper management on such matters as accomplishment of assigned work schedules, budget estimates, changes in production techniques and standards, rearrangement of machinery, or other related facility changes.
Incumbent directs the work of journeyman boiler plant operator, utilities systems operators, electronic industrial control mechanics, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration leader man, mechanics, technicians, and helpers through the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Leader man at this health care system.
Advises higher-level personnel of problems in an effort to correct bottlenecks due to material shortages, lack of equipment or personnel shortages.
Incumbent is tasked with the responsibility of initiating disciplinary action, counseling employees, recommending reprimands, admonishments, and employee terminations to the Chief, Engineering Service
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm ( subject to change based on agency needs)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Applicant may work from ladders, scaffolding, and/or hydraulic platforms. This position requires working in uncontrolled environments, in inclement weather conditions, and in confined or uncomfortable spaces. Many work sites are hot, dirty, dusty, greasy, poorly lit, cramped and with unpleasant odors. Occasionally is subject to possible dangerous working conditions including exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections. May be subject to electrical shock and/or electrical burns, cuts, bruises, and strains. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks in a safe manner.
