About the Position: Serves as a Production Administrative Assistant for one or more Divisions at the Blue Grass Army Depot. Provides a variety of clerical and personnel services to managers and employees in these divisions.

Duties

Maintain supervisor's calendar and schedule appointments based on needs of the organization. Coordinate, monitor, and track training requirements within the Directorate. Serve as timekeeper, inputting time and attendance data based on supervisory staff requests. Perform time and attendance functions from recordkeeping to inputting time for certification. Type correspondence, memorandums, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), update databases and prepare routine monthly reports, charts and other material in final form from rough draft, notes or oral instructions. Communicate office procedures with internal staff. Receive telephone calls and visitors for the office and exercises tact and judgment in determining the nature of the call and refer calls and or/visitors to appropriate personnel. Compile and maintain time, labor, attendance, accountability, overtime, leave, and production records and logs from Directorate supervisors. Initiate personnel actions based on management request to include requests for establishment of positions, recruitment actions, details, reassignments, promotions, and various other actions. Use office automation systems and software packages to accomplish work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • Must be a qualified typist in order to perform office automation duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Position requires a valid/unexpired Drivers License.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Qualifications for GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) scheduling for immediate supervisor; (2) knowledge of electronic mail, electronic calendars, database software, and preparation of detailed itinerary for official travel; (3) efficient in word processing software's and prepare correspondence with minimal assistance; and (4) communication skills to interact with supervisors and other staff.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Qualification for GS-07:Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) organizational skills sufficient to maintaining an office operating budget and scheduling for immediate supervisor; (2) knowledge of electronic mail, electronic calendars, database software, and preparation of detailed itinerary for official travel; (3) efficient in preparing professional correspondence to include completing and tracking of submittals and routings; and (4) communication skills to interact with supervisors and other staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
