About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Lenoard Wood, MO.

Duties

The incumbent serves as a Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator for the Directorate of Information Management (DOIM). Responsible for establishing and implementing the strategy for Storage, Capacity Planning ,Storage Architecture and Process Management. Determines the impact of new or revised software on system resources, operations, and applications. Resolves complex multi-vendor hardware, software, and networking compatibility issues with the SAN. Serves as a multi-platform administrator to provide a more integrated data management solution. Investigates factors such as amount of storage space consumed, access times, frequencies of reads and writes, and unusual problems encountered by other application.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• The incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• The incumbent of this position must be able to successfully complete the government Systems Administrator/Network Manager Security Course, Phases I and II.
• A physical examination due to moderate lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds is required of this position.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required for this position, up to 10%.
• The incumbent of this position is subject to call-in during non-duty hours.

OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, three full years of graduate education from an accredited or pre-accredited institution that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
