This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, Position Description Number T5222000 and is part of the PA United States Property and Fiscal Office, National Guard.

Duties
As a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER, WG-6912-07, you will identify, receive, sort, count, classify and handle hazardous materials in the USPFO storage areas. Responsible to identify, collect, process and consolidate hazardous waste in preparation for disposal. Receive or reject materiel, equipment, including non-standard equipment, and complex assemblies for the facility based on their knowledge of products, equipment, and procedures as well as having the ability to determine subtle and inconspicuous defects. Determine acceptance, serviceability and distribution requirements for perishable, classified, precious metals, textiles, clothing, complex electronic/mechanical equipment, assemblies and components. Perform a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, inspecting for defects, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized bulk and bin materials and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED
This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION:

AOC A: NG Employees working at the location specified.
AOC B: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
AOC C: Open to the public.
Supervisor for this position is MSG Vincent Mahoney.
*NOTE: Accessioning into this position is contingent upon verification of Tier 1 Security Clearance.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must indicate experience or training which demonstrates the ability to distinguish between closely related or similar items, ability to follow procedures, ability to sort materials by type, and skill in the use of hand tools.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate experience or training identifying and sorting a variety of complex materials and equipment. Experience receiving materials and equipment, recording, and placing items in proper storage areas. Experience preparing all items for shipment using appropriate agency instructions. Experience in mathematical equations. Experience interpreting and using Federal Supply Catalogs, military and manufacturing catalogs, and technical and agency manuals. Experience using and operating forklifts and motor vehicles.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
