About the Position: This position is located with the US Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison Fort McCoy, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division at Ft. McCoy, WI. Fort McCoy is located in west-central Wisconsin, midway between Chicago and Minneapolis, just off Interstates 90 & 94. Duties

Prepare plans and specifications for various components of construction projects (structural, architectural, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, electrical, civil/site work). Perform cost estimates for construction projects and service contracts. Review submittals from various disciplines to ensure products meet specifications. Coordinate with customers to determine requirements for construction projects and to provide support during design, contracting, and construction phases of projects. Develop computer generated drawings of construction projects using software such as AutoCAD. Use Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook, and Teams to prepare, organize, and share electronic data and communications. Prepare comprehensive reports detailing information from site visits and meetings and make recommendations on how to proceed. Maintain records and files for construction projects in accordance with standard operating procedures. Validate and prioritize service work to be accomplished by a contractor. Interpret and analyze data to determine the best course of action for problem resolution.

For consideration at the GS-07 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing work in the areas of civil, utilities, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical construction including meeting with customers on site to validate construction needs; performing quantity take offs to place orders for materials; evaluating contractor workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements; or operating computer programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Applicants who are current Federal employees or who are eligible for Reinstatement may be able to qualify with experience equivalent to the second lower grade, (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Engineering Technology and Finance. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. For consideration at the GS-09 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing work in the areas of civil, utilities, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical construction including meeting with customers on site to validate construction needs; preparing plans for construction projects; reviewing contractor submittals to ensure compliance with contract documents; reviewing designs for constructability and verification of project requirements; performing quantity take offs to place orders for materials; performing computer aided drafting utilizing programs such as AutoCAD, Bentley, Microstation; or operating computer programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Applicants who are current Federal employees or who are eligible for Reinstatement may be able to qualify with experience equivalent to the second lower grade, (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Engineering Technology and Finance. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
