About the Position: This position supports the mission of the DHA-Public Health Defense Centers for Public Health - Portsmouth in the Director for Administration office and is located in Portsmouth, VA. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available to those candidates who are new to federal service.

Duties

Provide technical and administrative support to the Directorate for Administration (DFA). Responsible for editing and correcting the Directorate?s correspondence and making changes to the rough drafts, as necessary. Develop methods for automating various administrative reports which contain data having multiple uses such as budget, funds, travel, obligations, and training. Manage account profiles for all military staff members as well and all incoming/outgoing military members. Track and maintain current files within the directorate and conducts annual review to evaluate continuing need, required revision or possible elimination of records.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Basic Requirements for Management Assistant GS-0344-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) packages for accuracy; utilizing computer software programs to create and revise correspondence, presentations, and/or technical reports; and assisting with organizing and planning directorate level meetings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementCommunicationsComputer Skills Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
