Duties
The position serves as Materials Handler Leader over the shipping/receiving operation and is responsible for outlining day-to-day operations, prioritizing workload and delegating assigned work.
Leads all phases of work involved in the receiving, inspection, counting, loading/unloading, organizing, and temporary storage of a wide variety of supplies and equipment used in emergency incident support.
Implements established scheduling of personnel for multiple functional areas to expedite the movement of materials in accordance with priorities, scheduling, refurbishment guidelines and space allocation plans.
Performs alongside others to coordinate efforts, establish pace, facilitate tasks, ensure deadline accomplishment, and correct work methods to complete standard and specialized packaging, kits building and hazardous material handling.
Operates with independence in determining sequences of loading or unloading material and implementing the movement of material from separate refurbishment facilities, receiving docks, storage bins or temporary storage areas to meet deadlines.
Uses and maintains various types of equipment, such as packaging and preservations equipment, and operates a variety of material handling equipment and vehicles such as forklifts, electric stock pickers, pallet jacks, and stake-bed trucks.

Physical Demands:
Performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require frequent standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries parts, equipment, and packed containers that weigh up to 40 pounds (8 kilograms) on a recurring basis. The heavier items are moved with weight-handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. Incumbent is required to be available to work long hours on short notice, and be available for duty on weekends, holidays, and nights as required.
Work Environment:
The work is performed inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. The incumbent is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and other injuries inherent in a warehouse environment. In certain work situations involving
hazardous materials, wears protective clothing, respirators and other specialized protective devices, in addition to their basic protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, and earplugs). When performing driving duties, the incumbent operates vehicles in all
types of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent); including heavy traffic, varied highway speeds, over complicated roads and interchanges, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.
Department of Transportation (DOT) DRUG TESTING REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. This position requires possession of a Commercials Driver's License (CDL). As such, it is a Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991. If the person selected for the position does not currently occupy a CDL Drug and Alcohol Testing Designated Position, he/she will be required to submit to and receive a negative test result prior to appointment. A positive drug or alcohol test result may be grounds for denying final placement into this position. In addition, the Act mandates that the incumbent will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing and that he/she may also undergo reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.
