This position is located in the Bachelor Housing (EH) Department at. Naval Station Great Lakes. The purpose of this position is to operate vehicles such -as seep van/ box trucks, vans, sedans, and pickup trucks to pickup and distribute linen and barracks supplies among the 41 buildings capable of housing more than 20, 000 personnel supported by BH. Further the incumbent will perform duties associated with material handling, warehousing and supply clerk.

Duties

I. Motor Vehicle Operator ( 40%) The incumbent will operate vehicles with afl approximate vehicle weight of up to 26, 000 pounds to transport linen, pers6nne1, supplies and/or equipment: support of BH operations Responsible for loading vehicles and properly securing loads to prevent movement or damage in transit; Check material loaded or delivered against various documents to prevent errors. Certify the condition of the items and obtain signatures from receiving personnel and unload vehicle at destination. Sort, log and deliver items The incumbent will be held responsible for upholding local and state traffic regulations and US Navy rules and regulations while operating government vehicles over Federal, State, county and city streets/roads in all traffic conditions. II. Material Handler (25%) Performs a wide range of warehousing. activities, including receiving ,storing, and shipping a variety of supplies materials, equipment and resale merchandise. Receives , unloads and processes incoming shipments/ trucks. Reports over, short, or damaged conditions. Completes and signs shipping and receiving reports Routes material and equipment to correct locations or storage areas. Snacks, bins, rotates and marks 'prides stock in accordance with standard warehouse procedures. Locates, accesses, loads and moves. material for shipment and verifies or prepares documents either manually or by using automated equipment such as computer terminals and bar code wands to read, store,- track and prepare materials documentation . May operate Warehouse tractors, fork lifts, tugs and trucks, and other general purpose vehicl?s and perform routine operator maintenance . Counts types and quantities of items during inventories . Recounts or searches other storage locations to assist in determining the basis for over , short or misplaced items . Performs. other related duties as required. III. 111 Supply Clerk (25%) Incumbent will restock dispensers and store rooms in individual barracks . The incumbent is responsible tor inventory of supplies ,furniture, fixture and equipment (F, F&E) linen, and other material in support of the operation. Prepare purchase request forms/ documents for approval and places orders for purchases, where appropriate. Maintains assigned storeroom and is required to- maintain a minimum of 98 % inventory accuracy. Documents Stock Record cards and Update them for receipts and issues. Prepare and maintain. other documents as needed . Issues supplies and amenities to authorized staff members. IV. Other- (10%) Incumbent is responsible for operator maintenance on all vehicles operat?d including but not limited to checking gas, monitoring fluid levels (washer fluid, oil-, etc. , checking tire pressure, battery, lights, brakes and maintaining the cleanliness of assigned vehicle. Submit request for tune ups and/or needed' repairs. Report any problerns to the supervisor . Maintain records and documentation pertaining to operation of the motor vehicle-. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs.A qualified candidate possess the following : Knowledge and skill to conduct preventive maintenance of vehicles Ability to physically lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds . Knowledge of applicable traffic laws and the ability to read and understand road maps Knowledge Of overall warehousing plan and accepted warehousing methods, procedures, and techniques of material handling. Ability to operate mechanized equipment including utility vehicles, fork lifts, mobile stock selectors, and automated equipment such as, optical readers, scanners and computer keyboards. Ability to process and independently complete shipping and receiving documents to insure correctness of quantities , identification criteria and labeling. Skill stacking, moving, and arranging items pallets use pallet measuring gauges and automated devices to insure proper height, weight, and other load and storage requirements are met . Drivers License is required. Must. be able to operate a computer sufficient enough to complete trip tickets, preventative maintenance records and accident reports Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests . Must possess basic reading and math skills .
