All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis.

Assistant United States Attorneys in the Civil Division, Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) unit handle a diverse docket consisting primarily of (1) federal investigations and civil cases filed under the False Claims Act, including qui tam complaints, health care fraud investigations, procurement fraud matters, and pandemic fraud cases; (2) civil penalty actions, including suits to address drug diversion and other violations of the Controlled Substances Act; and (3) federal program enforcement litigation. The selected attorney will oversee investigations and litigation from their inception through trial or settlement. Job duties may include legal research, drafting legal memoranda, drafting and responding to the discovery requests, document review, database creation and maintenance, taking or defending depositions or examinations, overseeing and coordinating investigations, representing the United States as primary and/or secondary counsel in judicial proceedings, such as hearings and trials, in various United States District Courts, and public outreach and educational activities.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1* year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.
United States citizenship is required.
