About the Position: The position is located at Camp Stanley and is approximately 25 miles north of downtown San Antonio, TX. The spirit of Texas is captured in San Antonio retaining its sense of history and tradition, blending sounds/flavors from Old Mexico to the Deep South. The River Walk offers much to the tourist, restaurants, as well as the nightclubs and hotels. San Antonio also offers two major theme parks, Sea World of Texas and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Duties

Operate gasoline and diesel-powered farm-type tractors. Occasionally drive and operate an 8-ton dump truck, 4,000 gallon water tanker or aerial bucket truck. Individually, or as a member of crew, perform a variety of manual gardening tasks using both hand and powered tools.

Requirements

  • Must obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
  • The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019 and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position requires a physical examination.
  • Position must be willing and able to perform shift work to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays as required.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

May be required to wear protective clothing and safety devices while operating powered equipment. Work is performed outside in a variety of weather conditions. Employee is frequently subject to jolts, cuts and bruises and may be exposed to serious injuries (e.g., broken bones or back injuries). Special care and safety precautions must be exercised to avoid such serious injury while using tools and operating equipment. The above working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of the job and do not meet the criteria for compensation by environmental differential pay. During periods of inclement weather, may be assigned to accomplish in-door tasks such as minor painting for protection of surfaces, cleaning of common work areas, and sorting and restacking supplies. Assignments to duties other than those described above for a period in excess of thirty days constitutes a misassignment and must be corrected immediately by appropriate Operating Official submitting a Request for Personnel Action, either to detail, temporarily promote, or to permanently assign employee to the appropriate job.
