This NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH) is located in Joint Force Headquarters - State (JFHQ-ST), Special Staff, and Office of the State Surgeon and is part of the CA JFHQ Safety.
Duties
THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION.
The primary purpose of the NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0610-12, is to manage a comprehensive Occupational Health Program for the state. Serves as the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) consultant and principle advisor to the Adjutant General (TAG) on occupational health initiatives. Plans, develops, and analyzes the occupational health nursing services provided to National Guard personnel throughout the state.
Qualifications
NURSING (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH), GS-0610-12: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government, have at least least two years of specialized experience with understanding of the principles and concepts defined by a practical knowledge of health services activities such as, administration, managed care, human resource management, logistics management, patient administration, budgetary and fiscal management, medical manpower, medical facility management, biometrics, medical recruiting, or aeromedical evacuation and have at least 1 year of specialized experience in performing the occupational health programs. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. Specialized experience may have been demonstrated by performing duties such as: Planning, developing, reviewing and analyzing, and maintaining a comprehensive Occupational Health Program; Experience in formulating, analyzing, revising, and implementing policies, procedures and best practices in order to accomplish program goals and objectives in accordance with Federal, State and local laws, such as, Occupational Safety Health Administration Act of 1970 - OSHA, Federal Employees Compensation Act, Department of Labor, Department of Transportation and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission statutes, and DoD guidance; Experience in determining if personnel are physically, mentally and psychologically suited for work in field operations and the industrial workplace; Experienced in managing job-related hazards, such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive hazards.
Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse. Failure to upload will result in automatic disqualification for this position.

Education
An undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the following: Health Administration, Health Care Administration (or equivalent), Health Care Management, Health Management and Policy, Health Services Administration (or equivalent), Hospital Administration (or equivalent), or related fields such as, Primary Care Management, Nursing (BSN/RN), Biology, or microbiology, Public Health, Entomology, Microbiology, Zoology, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering and Health Management/Health Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or other closely-related degree fields.
OR
Possess certification as an Occupational Health Nurse.
